Subject: URGENT: BPS push this week
Thanks all for getting back to me with the weekend working figures this morning.
I have now spoken to Mr Lochhead ahead of Cabinet this morning, and looking ahead to the NFUS AGM on Friday. He is concerned that we have only around 500 cases processed to payment so far this week (Wednesday to Wednesday) which is an increase of less than 3%.
The Cabinet Secretary has asked that we pull out all the stops this week to get the numbers of BPS payments up. I know you are already doing that, but having to juggle BPS along with other priorities too.
So, what I think we should do, therefore is:
Today and tomorrow, give absolute priority to processing BPS cases that are most likely to be able to be cleared through to payment; priority on this over everything else today and tomorrow.
On Thursday and Friday continue to prioritise BPS over everything else except for other, exceptional, top priority requirements.
I’d be very grateful if you can communicate the urgency here to all your staff, and if there’s anything I can do to help with that, please let me know.
And very happy to speak or take questions on any of this.
Good luck, and keep in touch please.
